STREETERVILLE PEDIATRICS
ADHD MEDICATION PRESCRIPTION POLICY
Due to the side effects of these “controlled substance” drugs used to treat ADHD and increased governmental regulations, we need to establish these protocols:
All Children on ADHD medications must be seen by a provider every 6 months
One visit will be for an annual well child physical plus medication monitoring and one visit will be for medication monitoring only (additional visits may be required)
Your child will need to be current on this appointment schedule in order to get prescriptions for their medications. If a medication refill is requested and your child has not been seen within the last 6 months, you will be given a 1 month prescription and asked to schedule a visit. No further refills will be given until your child has been seen by a provider and is current on their visit schedule. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to make the required monitoring and follow up appointments.
If your child’s dosage is changed, we will provide you with a one month prescription and we will need to re-evaluate your child within that month in order to receive more prescriptions.
Once your child’s dose is established and stable, we can provide you with 3 months of prescriptions.
Obtaining Prescriptions:
1.Depending on your situation, we can provide you prescriptions in 3 ways
2.Prescriptions will be written/submitted on weekdays only
3.When requesting prescriptions, please have your child’s proper prescription info:
*Please note that not all medicines are covered by all insurance plans. Many of the medicines are inter-changeable. Pease find out what brand of medicine that your insurance will cover. As long as it is appropriate, we can switch to a more favorably reimbursed medicine.
